Client Description:

The Client's EDP team is building a cutting-edge, internal platform to accelerate software product development and delivery, addressing the complex challenges of the energy sector. The EDP platform is a cloud-native, service-oriented solution designed to empower development teams with self-service tools for application infrastructure, data, lifecycle management, and operational efficiency. Our platform supports both private and select public clouds, providing a seamless hybrid cloud experience.

We are currently looking for a Lead Architect to join dynamic team and take ownership of the DevOps Enablement (DOE) product line, a critical part of EDP platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and Implement scalable, cloud-native solutions for the platform, focusing on hybrid cloud (on-premise and public cloud) environments.
  • Lead the DevOps Enablement (DOE) strategy and implementation, streamlining developer workflows across multiple clusters: Collaboration Suite (Jira, Confluence), CodeBuild, Deployment (Kubernetes, ArgoCD), Security & Compliance (AquaSec, Sonar), and the DevOps Portal (Backstage.io).
  • Collaborate closely with Product Leads, EDP platform architects, and DOE squads to align technical solutions and drive platform-wide improvements.
  • Manage and design the lifecycle of platform services, spanning development (DEV), testing (TEST), and production (PROD) environments.
  • Regularly assess and optimize architecture for scalability, security, and performance, ensuring continuous improvements.
  • Champion a tenant-centric approach, reflecting and prioritizing user feedback to deliver enhanced developer experiences.
  • Guide and mentor engineering teams, integrate learnings from proofs of concept, and maintain clear service documentation.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end architecture solutions, ensuring alignment with business and security standards.

Candidate Profile:

  • At least 5 years of experience architecting DevOps solutions in AWS, GCP, Azure, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proven expertise in Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux, etc.), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible), and Docker.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microservices, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and highly available, modular software architecture.
  • Proficient in CI/CD practices and tools, with experience in source code management, pipelines, and artifact repositories (Artifactory, GitLab Registry).
  • In-depth knowledge of DevSecOps tools and practices, including security frameworks (AquaSec, Sonar) and Identity Management (IAM, OAuth, OIDC).
  • Strong experience with Collaboration Tools (Jira, Confluence) and DevOps Portals (Backstage.io).
  • Excellent programming and scripting skills (Java, Go, C#, Python, TypeScript, Shell scripting).
  • Familiarity with observability practices such as logging and monitoring (Prometheus, Loki, Grafana).
  • Fluent in both English and German (B2 level or higher).

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of KRITIS or NIS2 requirements.
  • Experience with API design and development, RBAC, Secret Management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault), and Zero Trust environments.
  • Familiarity with PKI, Certificate Authority (CA), and cloud networking concepts (DNS, firewall).
  • Knowledge of ITIL and IT Operations, with experience in process optimization and continuous improvement.
